I'm Lesley, here’s a little bit about me and my journey….
My career has always been guided by one simple motivation - helping people. Whether that’s supporting their physical, mental, or emotional wellbeing, I’ve always been drawn to making a difference.
It all started when I became a Care Assistant, supporting adults with learning disabilities after volunteering with a Special Education Needs (SEN) drama group. At the same time, I was studying Theatre Studies and Performing Arts and that’s where my love for creativity and care first connected.
For the next six years, I continued working in the care sector while earning my BA (Hons) in Sociology and Drama at Liverpool Hope University. It was there I discovered dramatherapy, psychodrama, and play and realised how powerful creative expression could be in helping others heal and grow.
After graduating, unsure of my next steps (and with limited funds!), I explored different paths — teaching in a maximum secure prison, working with children with Emotional Behavioural Disorders (EBD), supporting the elderly, and eventually managing a care home for adults with learning disabilities. Each role taught me something new about people, resilience, and the transformative power of creativity.
By twenty-four, I’d given so much of myself that burnout came knocking. Fast forward twenty years, and I was working in the corporate world as a Business Development and Commercial Manager in Further Education - a role I loved, but one that pushed me to my limits once again.
Then came March 2020 (yes, Covid!). I had just moved to Wales to start living a dream, but suddenly found myself alone, isolated, peri-menopausal, and completely overwhelmed. For two years, I lived in survival mode, unsure how to find my spark again.
By 2021, I knew something had to change. I was anxious, exhausted, and afraid of losing myself completely. I started reflecting on the moments in life when I’d felt happiest and every time, it came back to creativity.
That’s when I discovered the Holistic Integrated Creative Arts Therapies (HICAT) course. And honestly? It changed everything. I rediscovered joy, expression, and balance. I reconnected with myself and found my mojo!
After completing the course, I felt inspired to keep going. I became a qualified Mind Body Education (MBE) Teacher, a licensed HICAT provider, and finally brought my dream to life: Connect with Creativity.
Today, I get to help others do the same - to find their voice, their calm, and their confidence through creative exploration. Whether through 1:1 Creative Coaching, group workshops, or corporate wellbeing programs, everything I offer is designed to help people and teams reconnect, express, and thrive.
Because when you lose sight of yourself, everything can feel off balance but when you reconnect, realign, and rediscover who you are, the world opens up again.
It’s a true privilege to witness people light up as they explore, express, and grow through creative arts therapies.
